When I got these Sam Edelman Fringe booties from Shoebox last week, I knew I wanted to recreate this all-white w black shoes winter lookfrom earlier this year in New York. I have no shame in admitting that these are the same white jeans from the February get-up, as they are a staple in my wardrobe along w my trusty Louis Sully bag. So, here we have the its-almost-fall-so-I-can-wear-booties version of the white on white plus black thing.
(Side note: Yes I know, summer is coming to an end and its not quite labor day yet but for the record the no white after Labor Day rule has been thrown out the window with many other fashion faux-pas that I do not agree with).
Over the course of the summer, I have been dabbling in Marie Kondo’s book “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” in an attempt to get my room & wardrobe organized once and for all (aka I am a recovering hoarder.) Marie’s solution to this conundrum consists of making sure everything I own brings joy & has a designated place in my abode. As you can imagine, applying this principle is quite challenging when dealing with all things related to my wardrobe. I have come across so many pieces of clothing that I haven’t worn in what feels like forever and I almost never can find it in me to get rid of these pieces despite my attempts to learn this Japanese organization method. Instead, I do the complete opposite of what Marie Kondo intended by adding my lost and found collection into the mix of my everyday attire with a different style. By different, I don’t mean anything strikingly profound. I simply mean I tie a knot somewhere in said piece of clothing. My mantra for the summer should have been “tie a knot in it” because this has come in handy countless times over the past couple months. My point is knots are a great way to change up something you already own for multiple wears. Shop this maxi from old faithful Forever 21 below and pick up these Belle by Sigerson Morrison flats at the Shoebox in RVA!
PS I’m not giving up on this organization method! Stay tuned for future progress notes on my tidying project.
Since I got engaged last year, I have been collecting white dresses (as some of you may have noticed). From Free People to Alice & Olivia to this beautiful Milly number, I have collected quite a few and i just cant stop wearing them! This was a favorite on my honeymoon and I know it is sure to be a staple in my closet from now on – because, who says you have to stop wearing white after your wedding day? Hopefully no one.
ps. I haven’t taken off this OCIE New York Trina Triangle necklace since our party last week! Make sure to check out Sarah’s other beautiful pieces.
We have been so busy lately and wanted to let you in on a few of our recent events so scroll away, lovelies!
A few teaser photos from Reb’s wedding! Still anxiously awaiting the lot from J&D Photography but they have given us a few sneak peeks! Bet you can’t tell which ones they took and which ones we did……..
Veuve & something blue are mandatory wedding day staples.
Here are some details from our soiree with Sarah Littlejohn, the designer of Ocie New York.
Sarah gave us a delicious rosè called “Summer In a Bottle” from Woffler Vineyards in New York. As if the bottle were any inclination, this is a great wine.
Last but not least, our selfie with The National RVA and our delish rosè we enjoyed at Rappahannock before the Brandon Flowers concert on Aug. 11. If Brandon tours to a city near you, make sure you take full advantage of the opportunity and go see him. He puts on a helluva show.
I write this as I nurse a well-worth-it hangover from the Brandon Flowers concert at The National here in Richmond last night. I was over served, if you will. To give you an idea, I was the girl that went to the “after party” advertised on the venue’s bathroom door with Brandon Flowers’ face plastered on it. This had to mean he was going to be there, right? I was convinced throughout the whole concert that he was going to the after-party at Coda (right next door) until I left one song early (to secure my spot, duh) and was sadly informed that Brandon Flowers was in fact not attending the after party. It was a devastating moment. So, here I am, nursing a hangover and googling him until my eyes fall out. Give his new album “The Desired Effect” a listen.
It may feel a little backwards to post about my honeymoon before we share the details from the wedding, but I just couldn’t wait to recap our amazing 5 days in Jamaica! We stayed at Couples Swept Away in Negril and it was the perfect all-inclusive but not rage-y beach vibe that we wanted. One of their slogans is “somewhere between isolation and vacation” and that pretty much hits the nail on the head. The variety of restaurants and bars was ideal for us as we sat on the beach all day every-day but also wanted to have upscale dining options. Okay maybe not all-day everyday, but close! We did get out on a snorkeling trip (gorgeous!) and of course couldn’t miss the catamaran booze cruise. I have to admit that relaxation was goal #1 but I couldn’t quiteeee turn off my blogging brain so I made sure to have John snap some of my favorite honeymoon pieces.
when you get to the beach & your room isn’t ready, you pack your Louis with your coverup, take a few selfies and enjoy the afternoon sun.
I pretty much wore thislemlem number everyday! It is literally the perfect cover-up and didn’t suffocate me on the extremely hot Negril afternoons. I discovered lemlem at Roan in Richmond and love the handwoven fabrics – made in Ethiopia.
yep, we were that couple with the personalized tumblers. BUT they are seriously a game-changer because the bartenders make each drink in your own cup!

I had been eyeing this WildFox Couture suit for a while and finally took the plunge a few days before we left for Jamaica when I snagged it from Nellie George in Richmond. I based the rest of my honeymoon vibe off of it because, well, how could I not? Those Flamingos! Unfortunately, this one is sold out now but all of their swimwear is pretty much perfect so you can find one that fits your personality! (Free People Eclipse Brami, H&M Girlfriend Jeans, Miu Miu slides) this high-waisted clover canyon suit w the teeny weeny top was a must for the trip! (& of course a selfie after your husband takes a picture that doesn’t really do the suit justice)
afternoon Caribbean storms call for wet hair, bare feat & wearing this Taj by Sabrina cover-up as a dress to pre-dinner cocktails.
On our last night we had to splurge for the Romantic Dinner on the Beach. It was a gorgeous night, the food was to die for (lobster and beef tenderloin) and the company wasn’t too bad either 🙂 We are so happy to have Johnny (aka Mr. Crystal Press) join our little blog family!
