Keswick Hall Resort

A little photo diary and details from our stay at Charlottesville, VA Luxury Resort Keswick Hall.

keswick hall virginia

To say we are lucky to have such great luxury vacation options in Virginia would be an understatement.

Having littles makes traveling a little more *complicated* so it is really nice to have options close to home where we can hop in the car and feel like we are on vacation just an hour away from our own front doors. We recently got to stay at Keswick Hall to kick off Spring Break and it was such a lovely, relaxing, time.

Located just a few miles outside of Charlottesville, surrounded by horse farms, a beautiful golf course, wineries and more, Keswick is beautiful destination. It has a boutique hotel and luxury feel all at once. On top of all of that, it is home to Marigold, a Jean-Georges restaurant which makes it a destination in and of itself.

Wedding Guest Dresses by Retailer

Need help finding a dress for an upcoming wedding? We’ve rounded up our favorites from Nordstrom, Anthropologie and REVOLVE for you.

SPRING WEDDING GUEST DRESSES

NORDSTROM

Nordstrom is by far the most popular amongst our followers for shopping for wedding dresses! We have to admit that we are a little salty that the Nordstrom here in Richmond closed and haven’t shopped there in a while. BUT, they really do have a great selection of, well, almost everything. So, we hit our old trusty site to find a few favorites for wedding guests and here they are.

I picked a bunch of VERY different style dresses to hopefully appeal to all styles and dress codes.

SPRING WEDDING GUEST DRESSES

REVOLVE

Revolve seems to be a pretty polarizing retailer. You either love it or you hate it. Either way, they have a great selection of wedding guest dresses – including the ones we are wearing in the pic above! (Rebecca’s Saylor Dress, Catherine’s Bardot Dress). Here are a few of our favorite options available right now.

SPRING WEDDING GUEST DRESSES

ANTHROPOLOGIE

I have to admit that it has been a while since I shopped on Anthropologie! But when I polled my instagram followers and asked what their go-to retailers for wedding guest dresses were, so many people said Anthro. And DANG. I have been missing out!!! For a while I have had trouble getting inspired or seeing something that really *wows* me and now I know where all the good stuff has been hiding! There are so many fun occasion dresses and not just from in-house brand BHDLN. Now I just need more special occasions.

Here are a few that really caught my eye, but their whole wedding shop is great.

Blair Eadie’s Atlantic- Pacific x LAKE Collection

The most maximalist pajama collab that LAKE has done since we have been partners.

When we got the email that LAKE was partnering with Blair Eadie for an Atlantic-Pacific x LAKE Collection, we were thrilled. We immediately texted each other to say how stoked we were to see the designs. As LAKE partners, we get to choose a few pieces to try from each collection and choosing which ones we wanted for this was SO hard. I swear, we both stared at the line sheet for hours trying to decide.

It’s just that good.

We were both immediately drawn to the rainbow pieces! Cath decided on the pajama set and I went for the robe. They are like rays of sunshine in our closets (and drawers). We chose the poplin pj sets this time, but of course they have the classic PIMA Cotton pajamas in a special Atlantic-Pacific color combo as well.

We were so excited to bring our pjs with us to our recent trip to Primland’s Auberge Resort and snapped some pix in our cottage. Stay tuned for more photos and video from the trip, it was a good one and the pajamas really brought up the morning vibes.

As always, we only share things here that we REALLY love. So trust us when we say that everything LAKE is worth the price tag.

Olive is wearing the baby Easter pajamas and they are beyond adorable! If the Atlantic-Pacific collection isn’t speaking to you- there is still time to get your Easter pajamas, yall! (Size up for babies, they run a little small. Olive is in 9-12 months).

Cathclaire Pick: Color Wow Supernatural Spray

If you are a busy women who enjoys the glamorous process of getting ready but don’t always have the time you need for FULL glam, this product review of Color Wow’s Dreamcoat Supernatural Spray is for you.

Color Wow Dreamcoat Supernatural Spray is a haircare product that I have been eyeing for weeks. I was hesitant to purchase because of the price point and because I tend to be a sucker for products involved in the oh-so-fun process of getting ready and have been duped by this category’s advertising more times than I can count. (Hence why I have a blog basically about shopping L O L)

OK – if you want the cliff notes of cathclaire’s review of the Color Wow Dreamcoat, I effing love it (click here for more beauty faves.) If you want to read further to discover the 5 Reasons I love it- let’s get into it.

First and foremost, I am all about optimizing my life.

When it comes to my glam routine (makeup and hair), I value products and rituals that save me time and make getting ready for the day or an event easier. This usually looks like a product that can do double-duty and Color WOW Supernatural Spray fits the bill – it works as a heat protectant AND a dreamcoat for your hair.

Thoughtful Gifts for Her

Gifts that show you actually thought about them this year 😉

Instead of bringing you a long boutique style widget with lots of options, I decided to narrow down my gift list this year to a more reasonable and readable list. SO, here are some thoughtful gifts that will for sure make for a happy girl on Christmas! Below I will highlight the pieces that I actually have and can vouch for firsthand.

ESTELLE GLASSWARE

Okay, I don’t have this YET but my mom and sister do and it is on my wish list 😉 This handblown colored glassware has been growing a cult following over the past few years and it has finally hit the big time (aka landed on Nordstrom) this year. I have seen it alll across the ‘net and the ‘gram on wish lists and gift guides and I can personally say, they reallyyyyy are worth it.

TOMMY JOHN LOUNGEWEAR SET

For the stay at home mom or work at home mom or lady who loves to lounge. This set was gifted to me and I have been wearing it nonstop since it landed on my door step. I am super particular about having loungewear and knitwear that isn’t itchy and is actually comfortable so I was so pleasantly surprised to find out that this set lives up to the price point. I have the white and its real pretty.

AWAY EVERYWHERE BAG

For the traveler on your list. I hear from trusted sources that this bag is a MUST for your adventure loving friends. It is the perfect size for a weekend and slides right onto your carry-on when you’re cruising through airports.

HOPE AND CELEBRATE

14K Gold jewelry for deeply thoughtful gifts. If you are looking to spend a little more on someone special this year, Hope & Celebrate is the way to go. From their beautiful “MAMA” necklace, to customizable jewelry like my necklace with Olive’s initials, they have quality jewelry at reasonable prices. You can use my code REBECCA10 to save!

STOCKING STUFFER: TULA!

For the skincare lover. You know I am a TULA lover through and through! They have lots of great gift sets for the holidays this year and would make for a perfect stocking stuffer. Use code REBECCA15 to save <3

SUMMERSALT WINTER COLLECTION

My latest personal obsession. I have the Luxe Cashmere blend sweater and Colorblock Quilted coat (pictured above!) and am so thrilled with both. Summersalt takes the trusted quality that we have come to love in their swimwear into their full collections for every season and I continue to be impressed. GREAT gifts for the ladies on your list.

STANLEY QUENCHER

yep, that one. If you haven’t jumped on the Stanley bandwagon yet, I am here to tell you it is time! This thing literally goes with me everywhere (because it fits in my cup holder!) and helps to keep me hydrated on the daily. It was a lifesaver during pregnancy and during the early newborn days and even John and my mom recently got ’em too. While you’re giving one, get one for yourself if you haven’t already. You’ll thank me later.

Amazon Dresses You Need for Winter Under $50

Everything on Amazon may not be trustworthy, but we’ve done the work for you and found some dresses that are 100% TCP approved for you to wear this winter season. These Amazon Dresses under $50 are 5 stars.

And just like that, we are twinning again!

Can you believe it has almost been two years since our first Twinning in Gucci tights post? We sure can’t. But then again, 2020 was practically a wash so it really feels like just a year ago. Even if Cath was 9 months pregnant, haha!

We decided to bring back the twinning vibe and pair our old fave Gucci tights with some Amazon dresses for a recent studio shoot. The contrast of the designer tights with the affordable dresses felt like a fun idea and we gotta say, we love how they turned out. The contrast is fun, not to mention, we love sharing affordable options with you guys.

Catherine is wearing this black tunic dress. Rebecca is wearing this blue turtleneck sweater dress.

Reb’s Favorites: SKIMS Fits Everybody Collection

A real and honest review of the SKIMS Fits Everybody Collection – especially for postpartum bodies.  skims fits everybody

ICYMI: I reviewed six pieces from the SKIMS Cotton Collection during my pregnancy. This was my first experience with SKIMS and it truly lived up to my expectations. I was excited to try some new pieces after Olive was born to get  better idea how they would fit into my day to day and decided to get underwear and bras from the Fits Everybody Collection this time round.

YET AGAIN, they lived up to the hype.  The website boasts that this collection is buttery soft and each piece stretches up to twice their size.  When they say buttery soft, they mean buttery soft.  It almost feels like you aren’t wearing anything.  For me, in my postpartum body, I definitely needed the bras and underwear to be extra stretchy since my size is fluctuating so this collection was perfect.

POSTPARTUM RECOVERY: WHAT I USED

rebecca piersol postpartum recover

So, I polled my instagram followers for things that they actually used during postpartum recovery and of course everyone had very different suggestions, but also lots of similar items, too.  My Amazon Storefront has a list with the things that you guys suggested and I wanted to do a more extensive post here with the things that I actually used.  AGAIN, like everything with pregnancy and postpartum, everyone is different! Obviously c-section recovery is very different than recovery from a vaginal birth and every birth is unique. SO, here is what worked for me.

ALWAYS DISCREET “Underwear” – Let’s call it like it is: diapers. I switched off between these and pads, just depending on how I felt that day. Honestly, changing the pads gets so annoying but the diapers aren’t the most comfortable thing in the world either. Its lose/lose and super uncomfy and annoying but such is the price we pay for bringing adorable children into the world 🙂

AMAZON UNDERWEAR & KINDRED BRAVELY UNDERWEAR – Both of these are big enough to accommodate the intense pads required postpartum.  I am still wearing these at eight weeks postpartum because they are jump simply super comfy and have great coverage.  Aside from SKIMS, I think these will be in rotation…. forever………

Most Frequently Suggested Baby Registry Items

I probably asked three different times on instagram stories for people’s favorite registry items! Knowing every baby is different and every mom has different preferences, I just wanted to use it as a base for my list of “must-haves” and ultimate “wish-list” items. People are very passionate about their favorite things and there were a few items that lots and lots of my mom friends suggested. I am sure once baby girl is here we will develop our favorites, but for anyone else planning their registry, here are a few suggestions!

NANIT PRO CAMERA BABY MONITOR

When I again polled my instagram friends about which baby monitor they recommended, the overwhelming response was Nanit! Like, almost every single person who responded.  And not just a brief mention, but an enthusiastic response with lots of DMs and reassurances that Nanit is the best. This smart baby monitor gives parents peace of mind, eases anxiety and stress while keeping you updated on your baby’s sleep and well being.  94% of parents say they sleep better while using Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor! That is about all I needed to know to know it was the one for us and so far, setting it up and setting up the app already have me feeling a little more comfortable about our baby girl.

Styling Tips for Family Photos

3 Styling Tips That Will Take Your Family Photos from Bland to Glam

With the limitless options for shopping at any given moment thanks to the internet, it is easy to experience indecisiveness when choosing an outfit for any occasion: especially outfits for family photos…when you are responsible for styling more than ONE outfit. I think experts call this “decision fatigue.” Kevin, Phoenix, and I hadn’t had professional family photos since baby Phoenix was 1 day old in St. Francis Hospital (wanna shift gears from styling family photos to my birth story? Here ya go!) and I wore my fave Sleeper Pajamas with feathers because duh. **

See what I mean? Sleeper pajamas are pricey but they are fierce and serve as both a go-to FULL outfit and fabulous pajamas.

Fast forward 2 years and we finally made it a priority. (Phew! These things weigh on you, am I right? Why do we put things off when the results are so rewarding?)
