Flemings Steakhouse

As girls that love a taste of the finer things in life, we are a sucker for a good steak dinner! We were so excited when Flemings Steakhouse (located at our local favorite mall Stony Point Fashion Park) invited us to try out a few of their current specials.

The ever revolving options offered with their Chef Table selections are innovative and excellent. We started off our meal with the Caprese salad and it did not disappoint! We also got a chance to try one of the burgers from their summer special (details below), and that definitely lived up to expectations as well. Talk about an amazing burger!

Local Spotlight: Creek’s Edge at Stony Point Apartments

We love when we get the opportunity to partner with local places, spaces & businesses, so when Creek’s Edge at Stony Point contacted us about coming to check out their apartments, it was a no-brainer. We are Stony Point girls through and through. We will only see movies at Cinebistro. We love happy hour at Brio & are suckers for a steak dinner at Flemings Steakhouse. Not to mention, of course, Cath used to work at Saks. So, we had driven past Creek’s Edge Apartments countless times and were excited to check out what they have to offer.

Bar Solita — Bar Solita opened up in Richmond a few months ago, in the old Graffiato spot on Broad Street! They specialize in Tapas + wood fired pizza and their decor is spectacular!! Last weekend, they introduced Flamingo Brunch with us in attendance and it was such fun. We stayed for 3 hours……  Highly suggest ordering the Pigs in a Blanket and grabbing yourself a table-side bloody mary. They’ve got drink choices for every brunch lover and the food was equally as tasty! Check it out friends.

Richmond Ballet’s Cinderella — Next up from the Richmond Ballet is Cinderella! This is one of my favorites and I am so looking forward to seeing it in a few weeks. Cinderella will run February 14-17th, with their Club 407 Night for Young Professionals Friday the 15th. If you’re looking for Valentine’s Weekend plans, this would be a fabulous option!! Get your tickets here.

Brunch — The newest venture by the folks behind one of our favorites Lunch/Supper just opened up brunch. in the old Starlite spot on Main Street! Catherine went last weekend and I am DYING to go.  From what I’ve seen, the decor and remodel look amazing, as well as the creative cocktails and delightful menu.  I am currently drooling looking at photos of the waffle flight.

In My Chair — Coming this March, co-produced by Virignia Rep and Cadence Theater, is a play written and performed by the queen Eva DeVirgilis! Catherine and I have been huge fans of Eva since we met her years ago while she was doing make-up at Saks and have loved following along with her journey. Her In My Chair series started as a Ted Talk and developed into so much more as she has traveled the world, speaking to women about major topics like body image and beauty standards! We are so excited to see this vision come to life and watch Eva do her thing on stage yet again.

Don’t Look Back — The delicious Taco joint that started in Carytown has now expanded into Triple’s old spot in Scott’s Addition and just recently opened on Forest Hill Avenue! We are sucks for a good taco and margarita and this is definitely one of our favorite go-to spots around town.

Dear Guest — Our favorite couple behind Dear Neighbor has recently renovated their space and turned it into the perfect BNB haven!! Richmond friends, if you’re looking for a staycation or have friends coming into town, we highly suggest contacting Kristy & Evan about staying at Dear Guest! It is a perfectly curated, minimalist’s dream, plus you can do a little shopping at Dear Neighbor while you’re staying.  Oh, and did we mention it’s right by Sub Rosa?

RVA Friends, feel free to leave comments below about other fun happenings around town so we can help spread the word!!

A Love Letter to Richmond Ballet’s The Nutcracker

Ever since my sister-in-law Susannah started working at Richmond Ballet last year, I have fallen completely back in love with the ballet.  From their studio series’, to the epic 35th Anniversary celebration that Catherine and I attended in September, I have loved reconnecting with RB.   When we started collaborating with Richmond Ballet this year, I was overjoyed at the opportunity to help spread the love for Richmond’s ballet company and programs through our channels on The Crystal Press.  I am especially excited to write a little bit about what The Nutcracker means to me! October on The Crystal Press

We have worked on some seriously cool projects this month! I can’t promise this type of round up post is going to happen every month, but in case you missed what we’ve been up to – here’s a summary of our goings-on this October.

Technically, we went to the ballet at the end of September, but it felt right to start off the post with this magical evening! We attended the Richmond Ballet’s 35th Anniversary Performance and it was truly brilliant. The performance included pieces from favorite ballet’s over the past 35 years of the professional company, interviews with past and present choreographers and dancers as well as a brand new ballet.  This was just the beginning of their 2018-2019 season and it was the perfect start. Up next is their Studio One show, running November 6-11 with 9 performances.  We are going to be at the Thursday November 8th performance, so grab your tickets and come spend the evening with us at the ballet!

In case you haven’t been following along with us during October, we’ve been a part of a variety of campaigns involving Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We have both, unfortunately, had this disease effect those close to us so this is a cause we jump to support each year. One of these campaigns was working with eBay and CFDA, wearing these boob tees to promote Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. It’s not too late to grab one of these tees for yourself to help support a cause that means a lot to us.

Another Breast Cancer Awareness campaign we helped to promote during October was withe Cape Cod Chips! Read our full post on the project here. This was a seriously tasty collaboration (sorry…. I couldn’t resist).

We might be nearing the end of fall wedding season, but it never hurts to have inspiration! I wore the black number that I wore as a bridesmaid in Catherine’s wedding to my pal Hunter’s wedding in September and when I was looking for something to wear to a wedding this weekend, I ended up down a rabbit hole of great black dresses to wear as a wedding guest! I’ve rounded up some favorites, that could also be great for fancy holiday parties or even NYE. WOW. I can’t believe I just mentioned NYE. Are the holidays seriously sneaking up on anyone else?! YIKES!

Last, but certainly not least — October has been Virginia Wine Month in our great home state.  We posted about some of our favorite wineries to visit earlier this month and in case you missed it you can find them HERE! Sad to say our October has been craaaaaay busy so we haven’t made it out to any of them this month but we are planning a trip ASAP.

Do you guys like this type of post? Let us know in the comments below!

Virginia Winery Tour with Lexus of Richmond + Cville Tours

Back in June, we had the distinct pleasure of partnering with Lexus of Richmond and Cville Tours for a day of wine tasting and gorgeous views in Charlottesville. This is the second year that the two have teamed up to offer guests new luxurious experiences. Their Taste of Luxury partnership enhances three tours by allowing guests to experience the brilliance of Lexus firsthand. Guests, like us, are chauffeured to and from the tour in a 2018 Lexus LS or Lexus LX (what we rode in) for a perfectly curated experience.  In addition to the Behind The Scenes Wine Tour we experienced, they also offer a Vineyard Horseback Riding Tour with VIP Wine Tasting and a Gearhart Chocolate Experience. Each of these is a unique way to experience what we have to offer in the beautiful state of VA.

Now for the good stuff: our tour!

For our trip, we started at King Family Vineyards. Known for its Sunday polo matches and delicious Crosé, King Family is one of Charlottesville’s most notable wineries.  This wasn’t my first time at King Family, but it was certainly one of my favorites. We enjoyed a tasting with Matthew, their Wine Club Manager, and of course, loved all of the wines. Cath opted to take in the Crozet views over a glass of Crosé and I fell in love with their Roseland white blend (Chardonnay, Viognier + Petite Menseng).  It was the perfect first stop for our tour.

Our Second Stop was Pollak Vineyards.  This was a new one for me, but I have friends who rave about the wine, so I was extra excited to try it! As it was the middle of the day on a Wednesday, we had the place practically to ourselves, which made for an awesomely intimate tasting experience.  The tasting room was gorgeous, the wines were delightful and I was reminded how lucky we are to live in a state that makes such great wine. One of the highlights was tasting their Meritages from 2014 and 2015, along with some homemade chocolates. *delish* However, surprise, surprise, we ended up with a bottle of rosé, which we enjoyed on the deck outside with sandwiches that we picked up from Greenwood Grocer!

Our third stop was Veritas! Last time I was there, it was just before Christmastime, so the experience was completely different. Their tasting room is full of plush leather couches and over the holidays, by the fire, I enjoyed some delicious red wines.  This time, however, we were able to enjoy the beautiful outdoor patio post-tasting and it was the perfect end to our tour! The views of the valley and the mountains from Veritas really can’t be beat. After all of the white and rose we had tasted throughout the day, I opted for a glass of red, while Cath stuck with the day’s theme and enjoyed a glass of rose.

Thanks so much for the BEST day Lexus of Richmond + CVILLE Tours!

We truly had the most luxurious day! If you’re in the market for a new car, look no further than Lexus! Lexus of Richmond offers complimentary pick-up and delivery service within a 30-mile radius of downtown Charlottesville. Talk about good service!

Where to Get Your Blonde Hair Done in Richmond, VA

hair salons richmond va fashion blogAs a blogger, it is my job to try out different hair salons around Richmond, VA to tell my peeps (you guys!) reviews about where to go and which hair stylist to see so you can have a great experience at your own hair appointment. TBH: I get my hair done ALOT.  While I do get my hair done in other cities depending what zip code I am in or what photoshoots I have where, I get my hair done in Richmond most often. Lately I have been noticing that aside from the usual fashion questions, I have been getting questions about my platinum blonde hair so I wanted to start with addressing where to get your hair done in RVA.
