Richmond Brunch Weekend

Because, honestly, who doesn’t LOVE brunch?

We love Richmond for about one million reasons, as you all know if you have been following along with us for any amount of time.  From the shopping scene, to the restaurant scene, the James River and beyond, our hometown is a seriously rad place.  Our hometown pride is REAL, and we love being able to share the happenings with you guys here on the blog.

So here’s the deal! Next weekend, March 24-25th, As Told Over Brunch + The Massey Alliance are bringing us the third annual Richmond Brunch Weekend.  Over 40 Richmond Area restaurants are participating in this epic weekend and all of the proceeds (15% of each meal) are going to the Massey Cancer Center.  As a part of this weekend, many of the restaurants are participating in the #MasseyMimosa and in addition to your 15%, they will donate $1 for each drink! All you have to do is show up for brunch and voila! you’re helping an important cause.

RVA Spotlight: Boulevard Burger & Brew

Who doesn’t love a good burger + brew joint? 
It’s not a secret that we love Richmond. I love Richmond for so so many reasons! From the river, to the shopping, to the incredible selection of restaurants we have here, Richmond is simply the best.  We have so many awesome places at our finger tips and we intend of taking FULL advantage of that and sharing our experiences with you guys. Where to Shop in Richmond with The Crystal Press

We are so excited to finally share this video project The Crystal Press worked on with a crew from Google in Richmond, Va. The video is called “Shop Like a Local” and is featuring Need Supply Co, Little Nomad, and Ledbury.

 

We can’t believe that the day has finally come where we get to share with our readers one of our favorite projects that The Crystal Press has worked on to date and something that we are new at: VIDEO. The two of us almost didn’t believe our eyes when we received the email about this project with google – that’s how pumped we were at the prospect of working with them AND taking them around one of the best cities (and our hometown): Richmond, VA.

Is anyone else as afraid of public speaking as we are? Talk about two nervous ladies! (I mean, they are google…) But, luckily we had an amazing video crew who made us feel at ease and on top of that, we got to spend the day hanging with some of our favorite Richmond people throughout the day who were naturals on camera. (I’m looking at you Paul, Christina, and Anthony!). This was truly a memorable experience and we are so thankful to Google for including us, to Need Supply Co, Ledbury, and Little Nomad (see Cath rocking the RVA All Day shirt from the video here,) for putting Richmond on the map, and of course- to the city of Richmond. We think 2018 is our year, 804.

Holidays at The Jefferson Hotel

 

Ever since we were little girls, The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond has always been a staple destination to visit around the holidays. I’m sure many of you know that just driving by the hotel’s decorations will fill your heart with the holiday spirit and it’s true! We are locals but still are always in awe of the decorations. As the two of us get further into the life that is adulthood, these traditions around the holidays become even more special and things that we want to make time for despite our busy schedules.  (more…)

The Crystal Press had the pleasure of exploring The Crystal Coast last weekend in North Carolina and I have to say, that area is a true gem on the east coast! Rebecca and I will be sharing a travel blog post about everything we did while we were exploring Beaufort, Morehead City, and Atlantic Beach but for now, I had to share these culottes and this cool Aerosmith tee from Forever 21 with you all!

Cathclaire’s Sequin Wedding Dress and Wedding Details

We all love drooling over celeb weddings, the wedding dress, and our best friend’s wedding photos. The love between two people and the style choices that a couple decides on for their wedding day are the most intriguing to me when it clearly reflects their personal style. From the wedding dress to the groom’s attire, I love it all! You know, those Pinterest wedding photos that you can’t stop oohing and ahhing over or save fast enough to your “Wedding Inspiration” board – we all do it.

I say all of this to reveal that I am obsessed with seeing people’s style choices for just about any occasion or event, especially weddings. When I see a wedding album, I always wonder to myself if the bride values being fashion forward over timeless, vintage over trendy? While a wedding is an intimate event (coming from that bride that snap-chatted arguably too many times during her wedding day), it is always a beautifully romantic spectacle. I am so excited to share with you guys my wedding photos from my big day to the love of my life, Kevin James. To be honest, I have been drooling over Kaytee Lauren’s work on this special day (and this sequin wedding dress!) and I am determined to believe it’s not just because it is my own wedding day.

I ordered this Jenny Packham sequin gown online and it is the only wedding dress I tried on during my search. This designer is extra special to me because Jenny Packham was the first fashion show that Rebecca and I sat front row at during NYFW a couple of seasons ago. (more…)

We are oh so lucky to have internationally known retailer Need Supply Co in our hometown! Recently, we attended the store’s reopening after their remodel and we were so amazed by what they had done! Not only is the shop perfectly curated, but the shop itself is like a piece of art.  If you’re in Richmond, make sure you stop by and see for yourself. Jefferson Hotel

jefferson-21I guess you could say that we have this thing for hotels. If you follow us on any kind of social media (which we hope you are), you definitely know this about us.  One of our favorite parts of Fashion Week is the time that we spend in hotels, getting ready, having pillow talk and especially enjoying our morning coffee.

However, luckily for us, we don’t have to wait to go to New York or Los Angeles to experience hotel luxury.  Richmond is home to the Historic Jefferson Hotel, which is your one-stop-shop for the perfect, incredibly hospitable experience when visiting our hometown. The hotel recently underwent some renovations and we could NOT wait to check them out. Enter: a little TCP Staycation, with plenty of relaxing in the room, girl talk and down time. So, I guess I should announce that I am getting married in 7 months, May 20th. (WTF!, so much to do, so little time!) 

After visiting a couple of venues and making some wedding related decisions, I popped over to Lunch for some post-decision-making grub. Whether you are visiting the river city or live in Richmond, I would highly recommend sitting on their patio as the months grow colder. It is perfectly instagramable and dressed up with open fires and string lights.  (more…)
