If there is the best time to be in fashion for a blogger duo like The Crystal Press, I would have to say it is Spring/Summer fashion week in September when the weather is just right in NYC. Rebecca and I are still learning the ropes of this enchanting time of year but, boy, what we have learned so far has fulfilled dreams we’ve had ever since we were little girls. Before I go any further, let me just say we wouldn’t have been able to go on this trip without your support so thanks for following along with our adventures from the very beginning. Yes, that was a shout out to all of the TCP OG’s.

Roan If You Want To
Roan (noun): A realm of color, pattern, and texture that is never the same, never dulls, and has unlimited possibility.
Richmond peeps, have you been to Roan in Carytown? If you haven’t, you need to get there. From one of a kind dresses for a special occasion to the perfect outfit for a drink at Can Can with friends, this boutique has got you covered. The eye for impeccable style and design that Hank, the owner/buyer, has is out of this world. As if the shopping experience that Hank and his team have created at Roan isn’t enough, do you see this Roksanda dress I am wearing? Hank picked it out for me! I am an all-black-everything kinda girl and this dress fulfills my all-black needs with just the right amount of white peaking from the back of it.
VETTA Capsule Collection
“So you can look good by doing good” – VETTA
Last spring, a friend tagged me on Facebook about a Kickstarter project that two girls, Cara Bartlett + Vanessa vanZyl, were attempting to fund and it caught my eye immediately! As half of a duo trying to “make it” in the fashion world, I really appreciated what the girls were doing with their VETTA Capsule collection. Not only does their minimalistic and perfectly chic collection perfectly fit our aesthetic, but the main goal of VETTA is to create eco-friendly clothing. (more…)
Thursday To-Dos
The moon must be doing something weird because lately I feel like I can barely keep up with my to-do list. You know those times when you write your to-dos down, but on different lists and then you less than ideally misplace them? That’s me rn.
Between fashion week prep, general life stuff, and a quick stint in Vegas today (all things I am very excited about), life has been quite the whirl wind over the past (barely there) week. However, in my overwhelming to-do list fog, I have managed to find another pair of Alexander Wang booties (!!).
Project ACL
Is there any better feeling than watching one of your childhood friends kick ass in the universe? I think not. One of my gal pals, Liz Letchford, is the definition of a girl boss and the kind of person that The Crystal Press was created to draw well-deserved attention to. Liz is a jack of all trades – a singer, a personal trainer, an actress, a lulu lemon model (yes, you read that right), a teacher, a coach, a PHD student, and the creator of Project ACL.
My Fall Uniform
Well, it was another 100 degree weekend here in Richmond, and you would never know that summer is coming to an end, but alas, it is. As much as I hate the idea of the pool closing after labor day and summer tan fading away as winter approaches, there are plenty of things to look forward to in the Fall months. Most importantly, of course, is New York Fashion Week. We are already starting to get our affairs in order for our bi-annual trek up north, which also means getting our closets in order and picking out our favorite pieces for the season.
Celestial Vibes
I have to admit that when it comes to vibes from the universe, meditating, manifesting (etc etc), Catherine is undoubtedly the pro in this duo. However, over these last two years, working so closely with her in this blog endeavor as well as other major milestones in our lives, I am starting to understand more and more where she comes from, even though her knowledge is much more extensive. Repeating mantras and visualizing the future of The Crystal Press are now daily aspects of my life and this probably surprises me more than anyone else and I actually really, really like it. I’m in the habit of checking my horoscope at least a few times a week and am always surprised at the accuracy when reading about my Capricorn predictions.
On a similar we note: unknowingly, we have both been on quite the celestial kick when it comes to picking new pieces to feature on TCP. We both picked out these (under $50!) numbers from ASOS without the other knowing. I guess you could say we are on the same frequency. *insert crazy smiley emoji here* If you’re feeling the celestial vibes, check out some of these other moon + stars themed pieces and jump on the bandwagon! We’re glad to have you.
Monday Dreams
“What you imagine, you create”

With the Olympics omnipresent on tv these days, it reminds me that there are some things in life that I have gotten past the point of achieving. Not that I am ANY sort of athlete – the closest I can claim is a ballerina – but it just brings those thoughts to the forefront of the mind. I will never compete in the Olympic games. Similarly, I will never be a stand out high school or college athlete as I’m in my late twenties and I will probably never become a pop singing sensation or a contestant on a reality show. (more of a self preference for that last one.)
Queen of All Colors
“I’ve been 40 years discovering that the queen of all colours was black.”
— Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Raise your hand if “does this come in black?” is your most asked question when shopping. While everyone’s hand but Anna Wintour’s is probably raised, this color is the queen of all colors. “It looks better in black” is my fashion mantra and this bodysuit from Nasty Gal is no exception. #Nastygalsdoitbetter
Sidenote: Does any one else feel uncomfortable when using Nasty Gal’s hashtag? Asking for a friend.
Summer Heat + FILA
“Sometimes the ordinary things could be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people.”
Nicholas Sparks
It has been so unbearably hot these past few weeks and it has been so tempting to just hole up in our air conditioned living room and binge watch Netflix, Hulu and HBO with a bottle of wine. (Don’t get me wrong, there has been plenty of that ) However, there are a few summer traditions that our friends have that we do our best to repeat every year, regardless of the desert conditions and the humid Virginia air.
