A Love Letter to Richmond, Virginia

12922288_10206154135803715_1118693227_o Have you ever had a dreamy idea that lasted for about a millisecond before your mind came up with a trillion roadblocks preventing you from ever starting? This is the story of what is now “The Crystal Press.” Although we (Rebecca + Catherine) have been enamored with fashion since we could read and have been messing around with blogs for over a decade, our pesky minds kept us following through with anything consistently. It wasn’t until our post-college move back to RVA that the two of us were inspired to follow one of our so-called dreamy ideas and we give this beautiful city all of the credit. We know we are not alone in the inspiration and sense of community that we are constantly receiving for our little idea, because, well, that is just how Richmond does. It cultivates our creativity and even surprises us at times, when we turn a corner and find a beautiful new space to explore.

We absolutely love to travel, but we also love the fact that we have the perfect happy place to come home to at the end of every trip. Sure there are tons of amazing restaurants when we travel to New York, but we can’t wait to come home to the Richmond foodie scene (and stuff our faces.) The foodie scene is just one of the many captivating things about our city and anyone who has visited can attest to this fact. From the wonders of the James River to the incredible street murals, Richmond is hard to leave no matter where you call home.

The two of us are helping Visit Richmond raise awareness about the launch of their #rvaPins. #rvaPins are a series of pins (you know those are coming back right? throw them on that new denim jacket you just got) depicting iconic RVA stuff. Each pin will be sold for $10 dollars at a local business and only 200 will be made — aka act fast! The coolest part about this pin series is that the proceeds will go toward providing Birthday Bags for a local foster child through Connecting Hearts Virginia.  First pin is the A-Line Bridge and we will be launching it at Pasture on April 13! Come by, hang with us for some drink + snack specials, and most importantly: get your pins before they sell out! We hope to see you all there!

I LOVE so many things about Richmond, but my personal favorite is The Fan. It’s so cozy and charming! Awesome brunch spots, great beer/food at Joe’s Inn, Fan Video, Shields Market, etc. are all within walking distance. The homes on Park Ave are my fav 🙂

What a wonderful idea. Woul you be open to selling those pins on line? There are those of us who willbne unable to attend the gatherings / places where pins will be sold.

Katherine, thanks for the comment! The pins will not be sold online as we are trying to involve local Richmond businesses as much as possible! However, if you didn’t get a chance to come to the event last night – there are a few more A-line bridge pins leftover that will be sold at Pasture until they are gone. Feel free to grab one! We would love to meet you at the next event, stay tuned!

This round of pins is only available at Pasture, but they did not sell out last night and will be available there as long as they last!

Did the second pin ever come out? I got the first one at Pasture. I read that the second was due to be at the Street Art Festival, which I attended, but I did not see a pin available. Did it ever make it? Are any still available? Is the third one out? Thanks for your help!
