3 Tips To Decorating Your Space with Desenio

The week before quarantine began, I moved into a new office space for my “regular” job! I was so excited to decorate the space, but that got put on the back burner while we all worked at home for a couple of months. I got to perfect my home office space, but was thrilled to get back into work to bring my new space to life!

I was thrilled that Desenio wanted to collaborate to help me decorate my new office, but they have SO many prints to choose from I was overwhelmed at first. I realized these 3 tips during this process and wanted to share, in case any of you need help decorating a new space!

  1. Pick a Theme – Depending on the space you are looking to decorate, the theme might be obvious. Decorating your Kitchen, Nursery, or Bathroom might call for more targeted themes. But for me, I had a blank slate. I knew the vibe that I wanted to create, I just wasn’t sure how to execute it. I finally decided on a wanderlust theme, so that when I am sitting here working, I can be surrounded by pretty places and things, manifesting dream vacations on the daily.
  2. Coordinate a Color Scheme – Once you have your theme, take a look at the other pieces in your room. Do you have mostly neutral furniture? Add some pops of color. Do you have accent furniture? Choose complimentary colors in your prints to bring out the colors in your furniture. For me, I have a rack of our Let’s Talk Towels Turkish Towels in here for our online inventory, so I knew I could get away with some color to play off of the towels. I chose the big print behind my desk first, so I played off the pink, greens and blues with the other 3 prints.
  3. Use Your Wall Space Wisely – While I like the idea of a gallery wall in some spaces, I ruled this out for my space. If you have a huge living room or bedroom space, a gallery wall can work in a beautiful way. But for me, in my small-ish office, I wanted to keep it simple and not make the room feel too cramped. Evaluate your room (and your budget) and decide how much space you want your prints to take up. I decided to keep it simple with one big print behind my desk to make a major statement, and three smaller prints across from my desk to compliment the big piece.
