Day 1 in Athens, GA

A couple weeks ago, I took John down to Athens, after years and years of promising I would do so! I went to UGA my first year of college and the town has had a special place in my heart ever since. I couldn’t wait to show John my favorite spots, and explore some new places with him.

It was during his spring break and we took a little road trip to Atlanta to see some of our besties, then made the drive over to the Classic City! We were lucky enough to collaborate with the Graduate Hotel, the Athens location being our third Graduate experience. We loved being within walking distance of Downtown and having the town at our fingertips!

Full post on our stay at Graduate Athens here.

We started our Athens trip with a visit to South Kitchen and Bar for a deliciousssss lunch.  I had a veggie plate with the most delicious tater tots, brussels sprouts, mac n cheese + cheddar grits and it was exactly what I was craving! John got the fried chicken sandwich and YUMMMMM! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a delicious southern meal.

Next we wandered down Clayton Street, as I tried to explain to John how different it would look at night.  It was a relatively quiet day, which would inevitably change around 10 pm.  We popped by the Georgia Theater Rooftop and of course, when in Athens, you gotta drink Terrapin! (And Creature Comforts, but we’ll get to that later).

That night we went to my absoluteeeeeeeeeeee (and I think everyone’s) favorite restaurant in Athens, Last Resort.  It is always the best meal. The crab cake appetizer was TO DIE FOR and everything else we got was amazing as well. It’s safe to say that we slept VERY well back in our room at Graduate before Day 2 of exploring.  MOREEEE to come later! Including Creature Comforts, and walking around the beautiful campus.
