As I stepped out of the airport last night at 10pm into the pouring rain, it felt surreal that simply 10 hours before I had been basking in the sun in the Dominican Republic. But alas, isn’t that how it always feels when you come back from vacation? It’s like “duh duh duhnnnnnn” was playing in the background as our return soundtrack. The rain was just an added bummer on top of the vacation return blues!
As we continue to ramble on and on about the weather here on TCP, I am looking back at one of my favorite monochromatic looks this winter. It was a dreary day in Richmond when Catherine and I took these pix, and I truly felt like I was matching with the day.
However, just because my grey look matched the grey day, didn’t mean that it had to be boring! Matching without blending in- that’s the way I’d like to see it. In my last post I talked about layering textures with velvet and leather and here, I am doing a similar thing! I layered this silver maxi dress with this grey duster coat for what I think was a dynamic, interesting combo. I’ve linked some of my favorite grey day pieces here for you to create your own monochromatic, layered look! And yes, I just simply couldn’t help titling this post “Shades of Grey.” But no, I haven’t read the books or seen the movies, oops!
